The gopuram of Belur Temple

Lakshmi temple

Kalyani, or the water tank

In the shadows
Ever seen a big little temple bang in the middle of a crowded market? Belur is one such.
Except when you enter the temple compund. The market disappears. The crowd thins. And you
are left with some great temple architecture to see.
The Chennakesava temple here is considered to be one of the finest examples of
Hoysala architecture. It was built in 12th century. It looks pretty now like it did then.
